Favourite chalets in Val d’Isère?

Hi, I’m Kim, Owner of ‘Simply Val d’Isere’, the only specialist travel agent dealing exclusively with the town. Having lived and worked in Val d’Isère since 1999, I’m often asked for my thoughts on various aspects of the resort and, as we work with everyone, I’d like to think I know the place pretty well!

So this first blog is all about my, and most importantly my guest’s, favourite places to stay. In future blogs I’ll be looking at where to eat, equipment rental and getting the best out of your time here.

Let’s start first with my personal favourite - catered chalet options. These are not necessarily the most luxurious or expensive in resort, but the ones I would definitely stay in given a choice.

The days of super cheap, last-minute chalet deals in Val d’Isère have long gone, but there are still some great options out there for all budgets.

Chalet Cabri. Sleeps 10-12. Snowfront

It is the location that gets me every time with this chalet. Slap bang on the snow front, right by the main lifts, ski school meeting areas, hub of the resort. For 10-12 guests, it even has a hot tub on the terrace in arguably the most prime position of any. It’s at the lower budget end too, from only £9,324* for the whole chalet.

Chalet Blackcomb. Sleeps 10, Le Cret. Driver service included

Up we go to the higher end of the market; Blackcomb is relatively new to resort, but fabulously cosy without being uber bling. Comfortably sleeping 10 guests in 5 ensuite bedrooms, there is a pool and an outdoor hot tub. From €29,800* per week for the whole chalet.

The Bellevarde Chalets. For 12, 14 or up to 24 guests. Legettaz. Can also be rented room by room

An established cluster of chalets that are popular with groups as they can be combined to take larger numbers. They are right by a green/blue run down to the main resort lifts, and there is also a driver service to take you straight to the slopes should you prefer. Each chalet has an outdoor hot tub, and some have access to a pool and spa area. From £1,027pp*. The price includes return Geneva coach transfers.

Chalet Pic Noir. For 7/8 guests. Main Street location

Another location, location, location chalet right in the centre of the resort! Aside from being a lovely chalet with 4 ensuite rooms, it has a sauna and some amazing views. A great place to watch the fireworks or the street entertainers on a Thursday night! From £6,650* for the week for the whole chalet.

Rocca Penthouse. For 10 guests. Central. Driver service

And we finish with a lovely luxury option. Floor to ceiling windows in the lounge give some of the best views anywhere in Val d’Isère, both up and down the valley. This chalet is relatively new and modern, but retains the cosy Alpine feel that we all love on a ski holiday. Add a pool and a hammam and it’s pretty perfect. From € 26,000* for the week for the whole chalet.

*Chalet operators charge in either euro or British Pound sterling, to avoid confusion we use their pricing.

Of course, we have many other options available. Some chalets may also be rented as a package, with flights and transfers included, which I think always gives a sense of security to a holiday should you prefer total peace of mind. Many now though are happy to offer more flexible options on transport, and some even on catering.

Whatever it is, Simply Val d’Isere will be able to help you.

Those of you who have stayed in Val d’Isère before and, like us, think it’s one of the best resorts in Europe, do let me know what your choice of place to stay would be and we could well include it in a future blog.

In the next few months, I’m going to be writing about ‘Value For Money’ chalet options and, as a must for such a beautiful place, the ‘Uber luxury’ rentals. Plus restaurants, bars, where to go and what to see.

I hope to see you there with me!

Contact Simply Val d’Isere to book any of the above chalets or indeed any other accommodation option in the town.
